Learning and Development Module 3 - CRRT Principles & Treatment Modalities

Aim of the module
To understand the principles of CRRT and the rationale for the different treatment and anticoagulation
choices available.

Learning Outcomes
• To understand the principles of ultrafiltration, diffusion and convection
• To be able to discuss the merits of catheter insertion sites
• To be able to describe the differences in treatment modalities (CVVH, CVVHD, CVVHDF)
• To be able to discuss the merits of heparin and citrate when used as anticoagulants for CRRT.
